Our 97th Season - 2024
November 14–23, 2024

Freely-based on the story of Genesis, Children of Eden is a frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children. With a book by John Caird and an incredible score by Tony Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz, this joyous and inspiring musical celebrates the difficulty of choice, the importance of passion, the value of questioning and the pain in allowing those you love to take risks and face the consequences.

The Laramie Project is a breathtaking collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable. It was written by Moisés Kaufman and the Tectonic Theater Project in response to the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a young gay man, in Laramie, Wyoming. Kaufman and the other company members visited Laramie on six occasions and interviewed hundreds of residents, members of the police force and Matthew’s friends, in an attempt to understand what happened, and why. They were also interested in the possibility that theatre, more than any other medium, would allow people to engage with and reflect on the issues brought to public attention by Matthew’s murder, such as homophobia, hatred, intolerance and fear. The Laramie Project takes those real interviews and weaves them into the story of events surrounding the murder and the months beyond, allowing those most deeply affected to speak — and resulting in a brilliantly moving theatrical creation.

A Concert Event
The first musical from Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown, (Parade, Bridges of Madison County), is a moving collection of powerful songs which examine life, love and the choices that we make. This rousing score blends elements of pop, gospel and jazz, and features tight harmonies, dynamic vocals and strong storytelling. Songs for A New World transports the audience from the deck of a Spanish sailing ship bound for a new land, to the ledge of a New York penthouse. Audiences enjoyed this supercharged, beautifully-crafted score with songs that are linked by themes of aspirations, decisions and the power of "that moment before it all becomes clear.”

Pippin is an extraordinary musical filled with glory, love, war and magic.
As told by a traveling troupe of actors led by the cunning and charming Leading Player, Pippin is the story of a young prince, heir to the throne, who is searching for his own “corner of the sky.” Pippin returns from university certain that he will find a fulfilling purpose in life. As encouraged by the Leading Player, Pippin dabbles in bloody battle, licentious and lusty sexual entanglements and savvy political maneuvers, only to discover that true happiness is more complicated than he thought. With infectious tunes by Stephen Schwartz, Pippin is both a humorous allegory about growing up and a dark tale of the danger of false appearances and empty promises.

Plot:
The play is set in the living room of a house on Soldier Island, off the coast of Devon, England, in August 1943. Ten strangers have been summoned to this remote island, and all that the guests have in common is that each has a wicked past that he or she is unwilling to reveal and a secret that seals each person’s fate, for each has been marked for murder. As the weather turns and the group is cut off from the mainland, the bloodbath begins. One by one the guests are brutally murdered in accordance with the lines of a sinister nursery rhyme.

Choreography by Dylan Cole Passman
Produced by Tracey Altman, Michael Halwagy and Lauren Conlin

Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song-and-dance number after another. With a book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, the show’s curtain rises on a musical theater fanatic, Man in Chair, who is eager to tell the audience about his favorite Broadway musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone.” He’s the ultimate fan, and “Drowsy” is his guilty pleasure.
As he begins listening to the rare cast recording, the show within a show cleverly and magically blooms to life, telling the hilarious tale of a pampered Broadway starlet and her debonair fiancé, an overzealous producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone. A true love letter to musical theater, The Drowsy Chaperone has all the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.
